THE SUMMIT MODELUPA was the only Oakland public school in cohort 1 of Summit Base Camp, a project out of Summit Public Schools run in partnership with Facebook.
The Summit Model is designed to have students drive their own learning using the habits of success through a fully personalized curriculum. All the learning the students do is on the Personalized Learning Platform (PLP), which holds the playlists, the projects, the goals, and the cognitive rubric. This shifts the roles of student and teacher from a traditional model. At UPA, the following grade levels implement the Summit Curriculum:
